The Family Resource Library

About Us & Partnership

The Arc Pike’s Peak Region and The Resource Exchange collaborated to offer a lending library which provides the opportunity to learn and, in many cases, experience adaptive tools and equipment available for people to gain skills and independence without having to financially invest in equipment they have not tested.

Background

The family resource library is part of the building for change at the Arc pikes Peak region:

  • An inclusive personal development center for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
  • Give individuals a sense of empowerment.
  • The space for community organizations to provide classes to help individuals achieve their goals.
  • Be the premier resource center in the Pikes Peak region.

Our resource library

The Arc Pikes Peak Region, in partnership with the resource exchange, is pleased to inform our community of a new resource available to children and adults with differing abilities, their families, caregivers, and professionals, at the Arc Pikes Peak Region’s newly renovated personal development center.

The resource library provides opportunities to learn about, and in many cases, experienced tools and equipment available for people to gain skills and independence without having to financially invest in the equipment. Family Support state general fund dollars were used to kickstart this exciting project.

  • Adaptive and sensory equipment is helpful for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by using the equipment as a way to help with task s associated with daily living.
  • The library includes boooks and written materials to provide related information for each person in their own journey.

The library was established as a lending source

  • Create an account with lend items information will be provided by the family resource specialist.
  • Certain items have a certain amount of time they can be checked out and the opportunity for the item to be extended if there is no wait for it.
  • Once someone is done with the item, please return it to the family resource specialist.
