The Arc Pikes Peak Region is lucky to have a wonderful Board of Directors that works tirelessly, bringing innovative, creative ideas to the mix as we work to create a community where all individuals are embraced and respected. Today we have the pleasure of spotlighting Board Member Heather Brown. We invite you to “meet” Heather by reading below!

Heather Brown, a member of The Arc Pikes Peak Region Board of Directors, has held an integral role on the board since 2010. Over the past seven years, Brown has brought expert marketing, as well as healthcare, experience to the board. Brown’s experience is invaluable to the new Building for Change – Inclusive Campus development and building process. Her connections with healthcare providers and her experience connecting to different members of the community through marketing provide extraordinary connections for The Arc Pikes Peak Region.

Illustration of the need for Building for ChangeBrown’s experience in the intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) community began when she worked in an adult day center that served people with I/DD. Quickly becoming passionate about the work in the I/DD community, Brown decided to continue her work in the field. After parent and past board member recommendations to The Arc Pikes Peak Region, Brown joined the organization’s Board of Directors in 2010 and has served on the board ever since.

With the Building for Change – Inclusive Campus construction underway, Brown sees incredible potential in the new building for the I/DD population in the Pikes Peak Region. Brown explains that the Building for Change – Inclusive Campus will benefit the community “by providing a place to allow people and organizations to learn new things for free or a minimum charge, gain access to healthcare opportunities that they may otherwise not be able to, and be able to have a place to feel free to socialize.” Brown is impressed with how much The Arc Pikes Peak Region (The Arc PPR) has grown as an organization in the time since joining the board. Brown sees the valuable impact that The Arc PPR has on other people’s lives, touching many and helping countless members of the Pikes Peak Region. She can’t wait to see how the organization will continue to make a difference in people’s lives as it grows.

We are thankful for all of the work Heather Brown provides to The Arc PPR – seven years is quite an accomplishment! To keep up with The Arc Pikes Peak Region’s Building for Change – Inclusive Campus progress please join our newsletter, and follow our Facebook page for updates!
