WHAT: Succeeding in School and Life presents the Music and Rhythm Family Group! This group lets us express ourselves through music with instruments, singing, and movement. We’ll explore different instruments, learn new and familiar songs, and relax using movement, breathing, and sound. Bring your voice and get ready for fun! WHEN: The First Wednesday of every month, 5 PM – 6 PM January 7th February 4th March 4th April 1st May 6th June 3rd July 1st August 5th September 2nd October 7th November 4th December 2nd FOR WHO: Registered participants of the Succeeding in School and Life Program with children preschool aged-through transition age (23). Empower U: Teen & Young Adult Self-Advocacy Group
Connect, build confidence, and make your voice heard! Join The Arc Pikes Peak Region for our next Empower U meeting on Thursday, November 12th! Empower U is a self-advocacy group for teens and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who want to make new friends, build leadership skills, and learn how to advocate for themselves and others. Through engaging conversations, activities, and shared experiences, participants will have the opportunity to: • Connect with Others: Make new friends, share experiences, and build meaningful relationships with peers. • Build Self-Advocacy Skills: Learn how to speak up for your needs, express your goals, and understand your rights. • Promote Awareness: Explore issues that impact people with disabilities and discover ways to make a positive difference in your community. Whether you're new to self-advocacy or already passionate about making a difference, Empower U is a welcoming space to learn, grow, and have fun! Get ready for an evening filled with cooking, friendship, laughter, and gratitude! Girls will come together for a fun, hands-on cooking experience where they’ll prepare delicious side dishes and enjoy a memorable feast with friends. This special evening is all about celebrating friendship, building connections, and creating lasting memories while sharing a delicious meal! Guardianship, Conservatorship, and POA Training for Non-Professionals
Join us for a free and informative one-day training session located at The Arc Pikes Peak Region offices in Colorado Springs. This training is intended to provide introductory information related to serving as a non-professional guardian, conservator, or power of attorney for family, friends and loved ones. Training topics include Alternatives to Guardianship, Mandatory Reporting, Decision-Making, Guardianship & Conservatorship 101, Capacity, Ward’s Rights, and Required Pleadings. You can expect to learn from professionals in the field including an officer for Colorado Springs Police Department, a professional guardian and conservator, a psychiatrist, and a local civil attorney. Saturday, November 14th, 9 AM – 4:30 PM, 10 N Meade Ave, Colorado Springs A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Please email any dietary restrictions to akeckler@colegalserv.org if needed. The trainings will be at The Arc Pikes Peak Region offices (10 N. Meade Ave.) from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Parking is available behind the building. Adult Music and Social Hour
Adult Music and Social Hour Express yourself through music and connect with others at The Arc Pikes Peak Region’s Adult Music and Social Hour! This fun, welcoming group is open to adults ages 18 and older with various disabilities and offers a space to explore music, creativity, movement, and friendship. During the first hour, participants will have the opportunity to play a variety of instruments, sing familiar tunes and new songs, practice relaxation through music, movement, and breathing, and express themselves through rhythm and creativity. After the music session, participants are invited to stay for an optional second hour to socialize, make new friends, and enjoy snacks together. Adult Music and Social Hour takes place on the third Friday of each month from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM . Space is limited to 8–9 participants , so early registration is encouraged.
