The Senate’s Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA)  proposes massive cuts to Medicaid and Home and Community Based Services. These cuts will adversely affect individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In both past and coming blog posts, The Arc Pikes Peak Region will highlight what services are in danger through the voices of our community. Countless services are at risk of being cut and underfunded. Home and Community-Based Services, comprehensive waivers, and other Medicaid-funded services are in danger of being cut. Self-advocates and members of The Arc Pikes Peak Region will continue to share their stories about how crucial Medicaid is.

Send a Fax to Senator Gardner or Senator Bennet via Text!

Finally, if you would like to send a message to Senators Gardner and Bennet regarding the BCRA, there is a new method to text a fax to your Senators and Representatives.  It goes by the name Resistbot, and it is very easy to use!

To do so, you start by sending a text to 50409, with “Resist!” in the message.  Then, you will receive an answer shortly, and they will ask your full name.  After that, it will ask your zip code to determine your Senators.  Following that, it will follow up with asking you what you want your message to be. Please remember, it sends the same message to both of your Senators. Finally, it will conclude by sending you a message confirming your fax has been sent. It’s a very easy, and a very efficient way to contact your Senators and Representatives.
